No doubt there is an error in our version, for where in the tenth verse we read, “The judgment seat of Christ,” it should be “The judgment seat of God.” I suppose the word “Christ” slipped into certain manuscripts because Paul had been speaking of Christ, and it was thought to be natural that he should continue to use the same name. That day is the Final Judgment where the Son of God, Jesus Christ, will judge “the living and the dead” and destroy the old heaven and earth which are corrupted by sin. As Christian believers we know that “God has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth.” ( Acts 17:31)
